I heard two pundits spinning Trump on MSNBC, talking about how Trump is the voice of the common man, expressing the rage of the people, yada yada. It made me gag. The fact that Trump won the vote in NY reinforced my belief that this country has lost its way. One in five children is hungry in America, the bees are dying, the glaciers are melting, the courts are a farce, the media are shills for the super rich and Americans are voting for a reality show host to be the president of the United States. The reality is that we're okay with it. We're texting and tweeting while America burns.

(1,241 posts)right wing geniuses to name the three branches of government. They look at you so stupid. Because they don't know. They know nothing but todays consumerism. Zero about how the government works. Whip out some simple government 101 third grade questions and you will soon realize that that these blowhards are just that, full of stupid. It makes it easier for me to ignore them when you know they don't have a clue. You can't debate or reason with stupid.

(15,232 posts)All the pundits are telling us that he'll lose the general election in a landslide. Those same pundits told us (until about a month or two ago) that Trump would drop out, or that there was no way he'd ever get the nomination.
Why should we listen to people who have been wrong about everything? I hope I'm wrong, but if Trump got this far, he could go all the way. The ignorance/stupidity/gullibility of American voters knows no limits.

(10,857 posts)New York Primary results, according to Google today:
Republican votes:
Trump: 524,932
Kasich: 217,904
Cruz: 126,151
Total New York Republican votes: 868,987
Democratic votes:
Clinton: 1,054,083
Sanders: 763,469
Total New York Democratic votes: 1,817,552
Conclusions to take away:
* Bernie Sanders won more votes than the two top Republicans combined;
* Hillary Clinton won more votes than all Republican votes combined;
* Heavy voting restrictions and notable irregularities could not prevent an overwhelmingly Democratic turnout;
* Democratic voters turned out at a greater than 2 to 1 ratio compared to Republicans, despite the fact that statistically, Republicans vote more diligently than do Democrats. That disparity in favor of Republicans is usually even stronger in the primaries.
The final conclusion, a near certainty in my opinion, is that no combination of candidates, turnout and vote theft can take New York away from Democrats in this election season. That's over ten percent of all the EVs needed to win the White House, right there, already in the bag. Thank you, New York!
I'm going to celebrate with a mug of hot chocolate right now.
