My brother is one of those small govt, keep my taxes low republicans.
He's pro choice and pro gay, so Cruz is not an option.
But, he thinks Trump is a moron.
However, he admittedly irrationally hates Hillary....some of it sexist, I think.
So, he says he will stay home in November.
Just wondering what some of you have heard from the repubs in your life.

(5,455 posts)As it stands now, it looks like Trump vs Clinton in November and if so, it is going to be a VERY nasty campaign, probably the most negative and nasty campaign in history.

(10,175 posts)Go figure.
The others plan on staying home.
Firebrand Gary
(5,044 posts)He's tea party all the way! His Facebook feed is always filled with anti HRC meme's etc, but a few months ago I noticed they stopped. In fact he stopped all political posts.
He's now voting for Hillary.

(1,621 posts)He passes the conservative litmus test with flying colors. They are not offended by Trump, they just don't think he measures up. They inhabit a dwindling sector of Americans who believe that the Bush administration failed and gop candidates lost simply because they were not conservative enough.

(27,995 posts)But would reluctantly vote for Cruz because they won't ever consider a Dem.
But I have GOP neighbors who are talking about Clinton because they hate their GOP choices.
Sen. Walter Sobchak
(8,692 posts)They think Trump has potential since he is a "the most successful business man of the last generation" and this current persona is just to get union members to vote for him.
Johonny
(20,851 posts)And he's not Hillary. So they love him. Will vote for him. Not that I have any respect at all for my GOP relatives who of course is my richest relative because that's how that always goes.

(31,392 posts)My brother is a staunch Republican--also pro choice and in favor of LGBT equal rights,
but votes Republican because all he cares about is low taxes.
I suspect his wife is a Trump supporter (I don't talk to her because after 40 years I can't abide
the woman).
We'll see. I know they don't think much of Hillary because the first thing out of his
mouth when I went to visit them in late 2007 was a derogatory Hillary joke. I responded
with a derogatory Bush joke and it shut him up. We have to not talk politics.

(4,238 posts)Very low-information, highly racist, easily scared, consistently vote against their own interests. Three of them are elderly women, one retired male who worked a lifetime in a good-paying union job. Bashes "big government" and "moochers" while reaping the benefits of SS/medicare, yet struggles with medical bills. LOVES Trump because he "hates Muslims and Mexicans" and has a hot wife. Typical chickenhawk who supports any and all wars, but never signed up to fight himself.
However, I do have a co-worker who is a lifelong moderate republican. Supports Kasich, and is "horrified" that Trump is the nominee. Says there is "no way in hell" that she or her husband would ever consider voting for Trump. Hates Hillary, though, so they won't be voting in November.

(4,238 posts)Maybe. Her kids adore him and she said they've been nagging them to cast their vote for him, but they're opposed to tax increases and "freebies"

(78,249 posts)Can't imagine he thinks much more highly of Cruz, since he isn't a fundie. I imagine he went with Kasich, who carried Manhattan in the recent NY repuke primary.
