Beloved Actor and Civil Rights Activist Says He's a Fan of Bernie Sanders but Urges Liberals to Support the Democratic Nominee No Matter Who It Is?1461855634
George Takei Wednesday afternoon posted a short video telling his fans he's a Democrat and has "also been a fan of Bernie Sanders." In the video, the actor and civil rights activist who, at the age of five was rounded up by the U.S. government and sent with his family to a Japanese internment camp, delivers a strong and fatherly message: "Vote Blue No Matter Who."
It's been viewed nearly 1.2 million times already.
"I stood with the protestors at Occupy Wall Street, and have spoken out often for campaign finance reform."
"I like Bernie. A lot of folks like Bernie. God himself sent Bernie a tweet," Takei quipped.
Aligning himself with issues Senator Sanders fights for, Takei says both candidates vying for the Democratic nomination will continue those battles from the Oval Office.
But having been through many bruising primaries in my life, Im also a realist. From where I sit, the math is clear: Hillary likely will win, and she will be our nominee.
"But that doesn't mean Bernie didn't also win. He won in a myriad of vital ways none more so than energizing the Democratic base in a way no one expected."
"Young people in particular have become so passionate about this election, because they recognize its historic importance."
At stake is nothing less than the very soul of our nation. So, Im asking Democrats out there to take a pledge, along with me. Vote blue no matter who.
Ultimately, we Democrats know that a bit of a tussle isnt a bad thing. It makes us stronger. Keeps us sharp. And really, its like a family squabble, where only family, those very close to us, can truly get under our skin.
But remember this, too: Its precisely because we like and respect each other that the words and criticisms sting as much as they do.
"But here's the other thing about family. We come toge...

No, I will not. Not even if the entire fucking crew of the Enterprise tells me to.

(5,644 posts)We should just let the Republicans do it. The Teabaggers will be glad to do everything that you hate about Clinton and more. It was their idea initially anyway, and they don't care if the entire crew of the Enterprise agrees or disagrees with them either.

(5,299 posts)and I will proudly vote for Bernie.
If it turns out that he is not the candidate, I will vote for Hillary, because a moderate Republican is better than a rabid right-wing one.

(5,644 posts)and if he's not going to win the primary, I will politely hold my nose and vote blue no matter who, cause I'm not in LOVE with the TEABAGGER party.

(5,734 posts)I support his struggles and admire his courage.
But there was a saying in the Japanese interment camps by which people would console themselves; in English, it was, "It can't be helped." It was how they mentally dealt with one of the greatest injustices ever inflicted by our own country upon its people.
We do not have to eat whatever is offered on our political plate.
I will not settle. I will not accept. I do not care if I "throw away" my vote.
I will vote my conscience. If necessary, I will write in Bernie Sanders.

That will show people just how upset you are while baggers strip this country bear.
We will have a President just as bad as Gov. Rick Snyder that poisoned the water in Michigan, except Trump or Cruz will do it to the country.

I still don't get why the ilk of Wasserman-Shultz are free to endorse republicans and the rest of us have to be blue even if it comes from being bruised by dem politicians

There are a few items sold at taco bell that could be considered OK to eat, but the quesalupa is just garbage, shame on him.
