Kirk Cameron is once again sparking conversations with his conservative views on marriage.
In a recent interview with the Christian Post, the former Growing Pains star said, "Wives are to honor and respect and follow their husband's lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband. When each person gets their part right, regardless of how their spouse is treating them, there is hope for real change in their marriage."
Cameron an outspoken evangelical Christian who has been married to actress Chelsea Noble, 51, since 1991 is currently on a tour called "Love Worth Fighting For," a Bible-based event intended to teach others how to "strengthen and encourage your marriage."
In the interview, he added that "a lot of people don't know that marriage comes with instructions," and "we find them right there in God's word."
Hey Kirk, I've been married for 15 years to my husband and we are equal partners in our marriage. Because that is what a marriage is you dufus! And his wife is a moron for sticking by him with this crap. But then again his sister feels the same way . . .

(49,212 posts)It's not exactly Hollywood money, but it's a pretty good grift: you get built in free advertising in churches and fundie media, and there's no expectation of quality so costs are ultra low.
He has to say stupid shit, it's free advertising. That he actually believes it all is a good thing, considering his acting prowess.

OF course that means regardless of how the husband is treating the wife.
Bet he supports them having weapons just in case they need to treat her to little death.
I don't know why DUers give these lunatics free coverage.

The problem is that the Village Paper keeps treating their idiocy as the other side of a legitimate argument...because 'fairness'. It's gotten so bad that when the idiots are rightly called so in Public, that's some kind of discrimination. You may very well have a Constitutional Right to be Dumb As Fuck, but that in no way limits my Freedom of Speech to AGREE WITH YOU AND SAY SO.

(10,272 posts)A law requiring that News exist as a non-profit, Public Asset would be useful. If you want to turn a profit you sure can, but you have to call it what it is then...ENTERTAINMENT.

So the change he is talking about is actually a regression back to say 70 or 5000 years ago.

(14,275 posts)In my home we have a partnership. We care about each other and make sure we respect one another's needs and wishes. If I ordered my wife around she would not be happy nor would I. Same if the roles were reversed.
The dynamics of the relationship have a lot more to do with what works for a couple than with the Christian brand of male dominance that Cameron is peddling in the name of his God.

(1,122 posts)Kirk Cameron pursued and succeeded at getting a cast member fired from his ABC series, Growing Pains, because she had posed nude for a publication.
Cameron, born in 1970, was between ages 15 and 22 when that sitcom was broadcast from 1985 to 1992.
At that particular time in a boys/teens/mans life
having a beautiful blond actress one has seen in the nude (though not directly in person) would be welcoming to people who, as is the case with Camerons sexual identity, are heterosexual. It would make most heterosexual males love being at work.
I picked up right away that something explained it. Years later, actively hitting TV talk shows to speak ill of LGBT persons and the topic of same-sex marriage, he revealed himself to be a has-been and manipulatively controlling creep.

And, there are many ministers out there who agree with his thinking, and tell to wife to be a better wife. I have a friend who i ex LDS, and she was told that, and a friend' cousin who was a Fundie was told that, even after her now-ex husband put her in the hospital.
His sister, Candice Cameron, says the same thing.
