Republican Gov. Charlie Baker said today that he wont vote for Donald Trump, who last night became his partys presumptive presidential nominee and also said he was unlikely to vote for Hillary Clinton, raising the possibility that the states governor may leave his presidential ballot blank.
Ill be voting, but there will be down-ballot races that Im going to be focusing on and voting on, Baker told reporters today, hours after Sen. Ted Cruz dropped from the presidential primary and Ohio Gov. John Kasich scheduled an appearance to do the same to clear a path for Trump to win the partys nomination.
Asked if hed write in a vote, Baker said, Its going to depend who is else on the ballot, I suppose. By the way I have a lot of friends and associates who are going to support Donald Trump and I have a lot of friends and associates who are going to support Hillary Clinton. But Im not a big fan of either.
This makes this a very difficult election, he later added, not just for me but for a lot of people.

(13,305 posts)There will be next to no people who normally vote Republican in every election, who will not vote for Trump. They can dab their foreheads with handkerchiefs and pass out on the proverbial fainting couches all they want, I'm not buying it for one minute. Especially not if the alternative is either Hillary, who they have literally spent decades villifying and painting as satan incarnate.
Come say September and October the numbers are going to look almost exactly how they have looked the past 2-3 elections and like it always does it is going to hinge on ground game and turnout.
But no, there will not be any kind of exodus of Republicans from the party. Not at all.
