(CNN) - Prosecutors pressing the case against a police officer accused of wrongly killing Chicago teen Laquan McDonald said at a hearing Thursday they have turned over hundreds of pages of evidence and 12 computer discs of crime scene videos and photographs to the defense.
Judge Vincent Michael Gaughan has yet to rule on a request by civil rights attorneys to appoint a special prosecutor in the case against Officer Jason Van Dyke.
Van Dyke is charged with murder in the October 2014 death of McDonald, 17, whose videotaped shooting provoked anger nationwide. Van Dyke has pleaded not guilty to six counts of first-degree murder in McDonald's death.
Dashcam video showed McDonald walking with a knife in his hand but moving away from officers.
