And we lose another GREAT one

I am saddened to report that long time Blues Belter and lgbt advocate Ms. Candye Kane passed away in San Diego on May 6, 2016. She battled pancreatic cancer for many years before succumbing to that insidious disease.
Candy Kane was a singer and keyboard player extraordinaire who had a social conscience as well as incredible talent. She was not only talented but a very nice person as well. I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Ms. Kane several years ago shortly after her cancer was in remission. She was upbeat and very happy to be making music. She also preached the gospel of always staying positive no matter what.
She was born in poverty in East L.A. and overcame that. She was always a fierce advocate for lgbt rights and never once backed down from that. If you get a chance, get a copy of her cd, "the Toughest Girl Alive." It is sort of autobiographical and explains a lot. Rest in Peace Candye. This has been a tough year for music lovers.
There is a link at www.sandiegoreader.com as well as many others.

Saw her and danced to her music many times years ago in San Diego (~2000-03). Awesome talent, could really bring the crowd to its feet. So sad to hear of this news.
