The Justice Department is not backing down and not holding back. They had given North Carolina until today to meet their deadline... North Carolina chose not to meet the deadline and the Department of Justice immediately filed suit.
This is a big deal. For those of you who are not big Obama fans, I'll tell you this: there has never, ever been a President who has shown this type of support for the LGBT crowd. For those of you who think he has not done enough, I beg to differ. I'm married to my husband, the military and government is shifting policies that support the President's positions and this unwavering resolution is taking down the Republicans in states where I never thought a gay person would get married.
Thank you Mr. President. Thank you Department of Justice. Thank you Democrats, Bernie Berners and Hillaryites alike. This is major change in this country and LGBT Americans appreciate the love.

(4,359 posts)I won't link since they limit how many articles you can read, but the NYT is also covering that NC has sued the Dept. of Justice. That's the flip side of things. But, I'm wondering, if they are going to pull and NC funding? My tax payer dollars should not be supporting that legislature's idea of justice.

(7,921 posts)If this keeps up we will rank below Kansas in state initiated poverty and lost revenues. They were not elected to do this to the state of North Carolina. Even those who put them in office are now quite roundly critical of their judgement and tactics.

(49,533 posts)Wastes the legislature's time creating a law to solve a problem that didn't exist, and now will spend a bunch of taxpayer money to defend it. Way to go, GOP!
