DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) Ben & Jerrys has created a new ice cream flavor as part of a new campaign with the North Carolina NAACP chapter to highlight voting rights and to get money out of politics.
A new flavor of ice cream will be unveiled at a May 17 press conference in Durham to support the campaign.
Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, Ben & Jerrys co-founders, will be in Durham along with Rev. William Barber to raise awareness of the campaign.
In a release, a Ben & Jerrys representative said the company chose North Carolina to make the announcement because of the regressive voting laws that have endangered access to democracy for all.
The 11 a.m. press conference will be held at the Greek Bowl on the campus of North Carolina Central University, located at 1801 Fayetteville Rd in Durham.
