ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — An Orlando woman and a red-eared slider turtle are doing okay after a bizarre encounter that both would probably like to forget.

Nicole Marie Bjanes was driving on Interstate-4 in Volusia County around noon on Monday when the turtle came flying through the air and crashed into her windshield, giving her quite the scare.

You might think at first that the turtle was thrown from another vehicle, but that’s not what happened at all.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Bjanes was driving 70 mph in the westbound middle lane of I-4 when a vehicle in front of her hit a turtle. The turtle was thrown into the air and then crashed into the windshield of Bjanes’ 2014 Volkswagon Jetta, leaving a large hole.
