Univision Draws 100,000 Hispanics to Voter Events Before Election
More than 100,000 people have attended events sponsored by Univision, the nation's largest Spanish-language cable network, aimed at increasing the numbers of Latino voters and citizens ahead of the presidential election in November.
"We want to inform and empower our audience, not just entertain them," Jessica Herrera-Flanigan, the broadcaster's executive vice president of government relations and public policy, told The Washington Post. "As a media company, we have the ability to educate and tell people what's happening on air and off air
We have the voice."
Nearly 11 million Hispanics voted in the 2012 presidential election.
In February,
Univision announced a drive to register 3 million new Hispanic voters before the election.
......
Three million new Hispanic voters can easily alter the outcome of the presidential race, defeating Trump. Obama defeated Romney by five million. I hope they are especially focused on swing states.
