They led off with the trial of the officer they had the best grounds to convict and failed there. This one was even a weaker case swung on the arguement that an arrest that was later ruled to be without probable cause was assault- something that goes against all legal precedent where a later ruling is irrelevant, if the officer reasonable believed at the moment the arrest is justified.

And they tried to pin not buckling Gray into the van on him, but the departments own SOP said that was the responsibility of the van driver not of everyone who participated in the arrest.

Weak case, bad legal arguments by the prosecution, predictable outcome.
