And here is what I think is the best reason to vote against the pig- the unleashing of the ugliest part of the National id. Trump enables the racists, bigots and xenophobes.
Welcome back to #TrumpWatch, where Tablet presents the daily low-lights of Donald Trumps attempt to use the dark forces of bigotry to become President of the United States. Today, lets again turn our focus to Twitter, where Trumps often anonymous supporters continue to use the social media platform to attack people who dont support or speak out against the presumptive Republican presidential candidate and, in the process, air their nasty anti-Semitic viewpoints.
You know, like tweeting a picture of the entrance at Auschwitz with the words Trump for President on the pavement, or an image of a trail of one-dollar bills leading to an oven. Sounds familiar, doesnt it? Twitter, are you listening?
Yep, thats right, these are a few examples of the online abuse New York Times editor Jonathan Weisman received after tweeting the following:

(26,060 posts)a surprise to anyone. The fact his daughter and grandchildren are also Jewish doesn't seem to phase these vermin at all. Since his Jewish son-in-law OWNS a newspaper in NY - it sure would be nice for him to tackle the subject head on.

(2,096 posts)After watching the media lies about Sanders supporters how do we know that these are all Trump supporters? I ask this because anyone can claim that they are Trump supporters but that doesn't make it so. These could very well be people from another country or people paid to do this for all we know. Now do I think some Trump supporters are like this, yes. But do I think all Trump supporters share these views, no.
I don't think we will succeed in the Fall election if we characterize all Trump supporters as racist, homophobic, sexist, etc. Quite frankly I'm not ready to trust the media on this one. They have given me no reason to trust them so far in this campaign season and until I see some actual reporting on who these people are I'm not willing to jump on the bandwagon.

(2,096 posts)we don't know who they are? I for one don't trust the media to give accurate information about anything anymore. They've proven over and over that they can't be trusted. Whoever they are or whoever they work for I can certainly say they are really sick people.

(12,482 posts)I guess somebody had to be the last person to know.
They are primarily middle aged white guys whose jobs were shipped overseas and are somewhat to very racist.
In other words they are a fairly unsympathetic bunch but not without legitimate grievances even if they don't know how to express them.

Trump Putsch @DreadCrash @jonathanweisman @RJC You guys can only scream anti-Semite, holocaust and Hitler so many times before people tune you out.

I have seen the exact same thing posted here. I have seen a number of posts mocking anti-Semitism, including, "ooooo, I'll be called an anti-Semite. So what?" While this is not too common on the right, left, or center, the fringes of both the right and left frequent in anti-Semitism, so much so, it is almost a language all its own. Like other forms of bigotry, most of the time, it is subtle and therefore, usually "debated" as to if "it is or isn't" actually bigotry, usually by those in power, i.e. privileged. On the right, this type of anti-Semitism will only become more blatant and frequent, but it is unlikely to be addressed in any meaningful way.Melania Trump did in fact say that Julia Ioffe provoked the anti-Semitic avalanche that forced her to file a police report
Well, what do you know?! Melania posts here! Oh wait, it probably isn't her, but some did make the same excuse and shifted the blame from the aggressors to the victim. Her remarks (and the ones made here) are often used when a minority "attacks" (criticizes) a majority person. Bigotry against Jews is often blamed on the Jews, and barring that, blamed on Israel.
As I said earlier, I seriously doubt there will be any discussion on this issue, from either camp, and until something really, really bad happens, it won't warrant discussion, but even that discussion will likely be laced with "well, they brought it on themselves."

(114,904 posts)The same people who lecture about shutting up and listening to blacks about racism, sneer at antisemitism and essentially tell Jews to shut up about it.
I don't think it's as bad on DU as it used to be, but it's still disturbing
I noticed that myself.

(53,961 posts)Sometimes it is quite repulsive here, other times it is ignored, and ever now and again we get a respite. But, yeah, you are quite correct about those who scream about "'splainin'" to one group or another, but when it comes to Jews...well, everyone gets to have an opinion, and ours don't count. I have seen people claim Jews are "playing the Holocaust card" and one person even claimed Sanders was playing the "Jewish card" when discussing his issues growing up as a way to connect with a young Muslim woman in the audience. The person who made that remark would lose her/his shit if such a remark was made about Obama "playing the race" card if he was recounting a story about his youth, especially in reference to bigotry in general.

I realize that you see everything through Hillary tinted glasses, but that response is so tone deaf.
You know perfectly well I've said repeatedly that Bernie should endorse and campaign for her. Don't embarrass yourself with a denial.
Ugh.
You really are.... something.
