General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDo you buy non-RX prescriptions from an on-line store?
I have major allergies and my doctor has (in writing) ordered me to use products that are not regular prescriptions.
Now need to buy more but the price for just 2 of them is over $45.00.
I am lucky enough to be fairly healthy but I live on SS only and this is a lot of $$$. Especially since I pay $84.20 a month for drug coverage under Medicare.
Do you use a site where non-RX products are more reasonable. I checked Drugstore.com and the same 3 products were $$$. I checked Wal-mart and Walgreens. Very Little difference.
Any ideas about these products ordered from Canada? Any site you use that might be more reasonable?
The items are: Nasacort, chlorpheniramine maleate and loratadine. About $60.00 for my last purchase of these 3.
Why are items ordered by doctors that are not specifically RX not covered. This is what the doctor ordered(in writing), not some spur of the moment purchase.
Thanks for any suggestions.

(1,110 posts)I regularly get chlorpheniramine maleate there. One thousand tablets are currently $10.19. I don't use the others, so I haven't noticed the prices.

I get meds sometimes from Amazon but avoid it in the hot or cold weather. I haven't got around to trying Amazon Locker yet but it might be helpful for this situation. You do NOT want any kind of medication sitting out in 100 degree heat for hours until you get home from wherever.

(26,109 posts)If you are but don't want to spring for a membership, but know someone that does, they could purchase cash cards for you at the register so you could go in to buy what you need. And I just noticed their website takes Costco cash cards, too.
They're store brand((Kirklands) of Zyrtek is a really good deal, too. You almost get your membership fee back in savings on that one alone.
