It seems the party and voters and their leaders would take this as a wake up call.
But something tells me they will learn nothing.
Face it, if we had a Palin or Trump or Bachman in our party running for president we would be embarrassed and try to shut them down.
Amazing what the GOP has created.

(7,629 posts)they voted Walker several times. Same thing for Brownback in Arkansas even thought he destroyed the state economy and decimated their school system.

(34,136 posts)It might have helped if the Florida Democratic party had not run a DINO. But then they haven't run a good solid Democrat for over a decade. I'd take a conservative Democrat but I am tired of seeing the freshly converted former Republicans being promoted by the FDP.

But still to elect Rick Scott is just insane. I made sure to vote against Scott. Thought maybe Crist had a chance. Ugh....

(34,136 posts)Something I have to do more often than I'd like here in Florida. I keep hoping it will inch us slightly more left.
On a brighter note, Gwen Graham is rumored to be considering running for governor next time around. While she is still more conservative than I'd like, if she is anywhere near as good as her father Bob Graham, she'd be a vast improvement over anything we've seen since Jeb! got into office.

Does that ratio seem out of whack? That's the ratio of TV airtime thatABC World News Tonight has devoted to Donald Trump's campaign (81 minutes) versus the amount of TV time World News Tonight has devoted to Bernie Sanders' campaign this year. And even that one minute for Sanders is misleading because the actual number is closer to 20 seconds.
~Snip~
*Trump has received more network coverage than all the Democratic candidates combined.
*Trump has accounted for 27 percent of all campaign coverage his year.
*Republican Jeb Bush received 56 minutes of coverage, followed by Ben Carson's 54 minutes and Marco Rubio's 22.

You could write a Harry Potter-sized book series on how the media has been screwing the pooch lately, and devote several volumes just to the handling of the Donald Trump campaign, but for the sake of space, please just answer me this: why would a news network devote almost an hour of weeknight prime time to airing a live Donald Trump campaign event?
That network is MSNBC, and theyve actually been doing this for quite some time, but Monday night was a last straw of sorts. For the past few months, theyve put Trump rallies on the air sporadically, usually on a Friday night, and usually consisting of standard Trump fare: readings of his poll numbers, insults of his rivals, and the occasional heckler. These were also all screwings of the pooch, but mostly because it was lazy and of poor news value.
What the network did Monday night, though, was both lazy and of harmful news value, and motivated by a desperate greed to compete. This wasnt killing time on a Friday night. On the heels of Trumps declaration that we should ban all Muslims from coming into the United States, the only reason to carry that rally live was in hopes that when Trump eventually said something awful, it would happen on MSNBC first.
