Bristol Palin Gets Married

(Well known abstinence advocate Bristol Palin, daughter of Alaska’s former half term Governor Sarah Palin has finally tied the knot with her on-again off-again boyfriend and baby’s daddy Dakota Meyer.)

“Life is full of ups and downs but in the end, you’ll end up where you’re supposed to be,” Palin and Meyer told ET.
“Hard work and God’s grace are the foundation of our new life together ...”

Meyer and Palin announced their engagement in March 2015, but called off their wedding just one month later.
Rumors that the two had reunited began three months ago when they both started sharing pics of each other and their 5-month-old daughter, Sailor Grace.
Palin is also mother to a 7-year-old son, Tripp, with ex Levi Johnston.

(No word on if or when Bristol will continue her work as a paid spokesperson for abstinence.)

but that meant nothing to me.

it's a little bit like the SNL skit where one guy named Matt Damon finds a cure for cancer and the big headline that follows was "Matt Damon (the movie star) to get married". Meyer, even though he has real accomplishments, is less famous than his wife. He also is still kind of a young kid who has some issues, at least according to wiki.

Much as Amal Alamuddin is rarely referred to as a Human Rights Lawyer, conscientious worker at the International Court of Justice, and lead counsel to the 2013 Drone Inquiry-- but simply as a Holywood actor's wife.

No doubt, the discrepancies become even more obvious when the roles are reversed, and we take exception to the male being overshadowed.

You can frame your essay exactly the way you like. You can emphasize his war hero status. You can describe why he received the MOH. You can make it about his history instead of about the marriage. You can write it up however you want to.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe Meyer and Palin wanted it published this way?
