State of Emergency declared Pensacola Fl

AP) PENSACOLA, Fla. - Record amounts of rain dropped on the central Gulf coast Saturday, causing what could be millions of dollars in flood damage in the Pensacola area alone with more rain on the way.

The National Weather Service said 13.11 inches fell on Pensacola over 24 hours by Saturday, coming close to the city's all-time record of 15.29 inches set in 1934.

Streets were flooded throughout Mobile, Ala., which got 5.79 inches of rain. County authorities warned residents to stay off the roads until the waters receded and workers could look for damage and downed utilities.

I am a bit north of both Mobile and Pensacola, it has been raining here but not as bad as further south.
Incredible amounts of water can accumulate in a very very short time from our tropical downpours.
This current flooding apparently is the most in several years.

South of Tampa bay. Pensacola is at the western end of the Fl panhandle, near the Al line, about 60 miles from Mobile. I get to go through both cities tomorrow delivering cars.

and it looks like I get to do that in the rain as well. I started the day in Albany, GA and delivered today in Montgomery, Tuscaloosa and Birmingham (I'm in Gadsden tonight) and it pretty much rained on me all day.

In the morning I'm loading for Mobile, Pensacola, one other panhandle town and Tallahassee. Oh well. Car hauling is an all weather job.

I really admire your ability to drive a truck large enough to deliver cars in all that rain! It can be harder to see in a real downpour than in a snowstorm, in my opinion.

9. Indeed. So please, PLEASE turn on your headlights in the rain. If you do, then I'm glad.....
