Because, you know, Trump never does any of that. And Trump is not Obama's "political opponent." Obama is President of the United States, while Trump is an orange guy who used to sell inedible steaks over the Internet.Bolton argued that the country wants to hear answers from Obama on how future attacks are going to be stopped, not a "lecture" directed at his political rivals.
"I think that's un-presidential. I think it shows the president to be a small man," said Bolton, calling Obama "one of the most narcissistic individuals to ever hold that job."

(18,837 posts)When he made statements like "How is my saying the words "Islamic terrorism" going to change anything, how is that a solution," I didn't see it as snark, I saw it as an honest question.
The closest he came to "snark" was when he referred to Trump indirectly as "politicians who Tweet," because that's all Trump really is, and the whole "I'm going to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, and they're going to pay for it, and you'll see, it's going to be a beautiful wall. A beautiful wall" nonsense is nothing more than a relentless self-promoter doing what he does best...promoting himself.
And even with that, I didn't see it as snark, I saw it as "put up or shut up," an acknowledgement that if the only thing the Republicans have to bring to the table as a "solution" is to have Obama say the "magic words," well...he said them, now we can see just how well the Republican "strategy" works.

(2,978 posts)I grew up with a batterer who was an expert verbal abuser and I've worked in the battered women's movement.
Lundie Bancroft's work on abusive men in relationships (see Why Does He Do That) has been really groundbreaking and he breaks down every strategy they use and why they use it. Trump and his supporters follow it in everything they do.
This is a classic tactic of reversing and crazy making. Accuse her (it's usually her) of exactly what you've done to her when she tries to defend herself, and tell everyone else that lie too (usually in a much more rational, surprised, sensitive tone to suggest you're a harmed, well-meaning victim).
