We, clearly, are when George S of This Week leads with President Obama's "The private Sector is doing fine" thing calling it a mistake; then his first guest, former candidate Rick S., hammers it as a mistake. And to support his opinion trots out this "FACT" ... "every 150,000 in public sector jobs created destroys 100,000 private sector jobs." AND that "FACT" goes unchallenged by George.
Then they go to the expert panel, where the gop panelist guy, Mike hucklebee, trots out this "FACT", "25,000 private sector jobs are destroyed with every $1,000,000 in public spending. AND this too goes unchallenged.
I would, just once, like to hear SOMEONE say, "Uhmmm, please cite our source for that!"
And then anne coulter started talking and I turned to The Golf Channel..
I can't help thinking, was President Obama's comment THAT difficult to understand? Is it so complex that the typical 8th grader couldn't understand it?
And I'm afraid the answer is "Yes."

(15,438 posts)corporate media that are already in the tank for all things GOP, look for people trained in the world of buzz-word journalism to go for the sell out contract of the highest bidder and make them talking heads of anti-union, anti-worker Corporate America. They work hard to twist and spin everything and anything President Obama says until they change and frame any message of his and any Progressive to make it appear as if President Obama and Democrats are weak and confusing.
People, it's clear that Corporate Media want Meh R'money to be their guy in the WH. The message should now be, "Ignore all political ads! Ignore the majority of media and their talking heads. Get all your political information from blogs and progressive sites because the moneyed Powers That Be are working hard to push a President Romney on this country for their tax cuts."
As long as we keep giving any serious credence to corporate media reporting, whether in print, radio, broadcast, or cable. If we don't, the President Obama and Democratic Party will lose in November.

(1,486 posts)but there are a lot of people that think fox speaks truth and facts and they need to know real truth if we can get it to them
And if business is about to tank whose fault would that be... deregulation anyone?

(15,438 posts)out their lies in flashy ads and corporate media begin "reporting" them as verified truth.
Cable "news" can't be regulated by the FCC, but we sure as hell can regulate OUR airwaves, which have the largest viewership anyway.
Why hasn't that happened already?

(11,361 posts)Even if that were true (that "every 150,000 in public sector jobs created destroys 100,000 private sector jobs" , that would mean the public sector jobs would be a big advantage since you'd be employing 50% more people.

(2,307 posts)It would be a net gain. If that were/is true would the opposite be true? Seems maybe public sector is the way to go.

Critical thinking skills seem to have been the first area of attack by the gop.
