Anti-Trump GOP delegates raising money into a legal defense fund ahead of RNC convention

A growing movement of anti-Donald Trump delegates to the Republican National Convention in July announced their plan to raise funds to mount an anti-Trump campaign during the convention.

The group began with just a dozen delegates who oppose Trump but now boasts several hundred, according to the Washington Post. They hope to block Trump’s nomination next month in Cleveland by changing party rules so delegates can vote however they want on the first ballot.

Will they overturn the majority of GOP voter wishes?

While Trump has a majority in delegates, he only holds a plurality of actual voters Matt_in_STL Jun 2016 #1

Trump was able to take his delegate majority through states that award all delegates to the winner, rather than proportionally, and by a watered down field of candidates that allowed him to win these states with as little as 36% support.

I do think many Trump primary voters have buyers remorse and, while there may be blowback from this move, it would beat the alternative of being a dead party for most Republicans. They know they most likely won't win either way, but most realize they can't go forward with Trump.
