Elephant Shot in the Head Walks Up to Truck to Ask For Help (He Survived)

An elephant shot in the forehead wandered around a Zimbabwe park for weeks with a massive hole before help could arrive. When it did, he motioned for assistance.

The elephant, named Pretty Boy, was shot in the forehead, which experts described as "too high for a 'kill shot.'"

When helped arrived inside Mana Pools National Park, Pretty Boy walked right up to veterinarians Dr. Keith Dutlow and Dr. Lisa Marabini for aide, according to AWARE’s Facebook page.

The two vets from AWARE (Animal and Wildlife Area Research and Rehabilitation Trust), examined the elephant on June 13.

There are some photos...one of Pretty Boy at the truck and you can see the wound...poor guy...glad this is a happy ending.

I would suggest that the elephant knows that the jeep usually brings humans who have administered to him or his kin i the past.
Elephants are amazingly intelligent and demonstrate human emotions.

I just read a book "The Elephant Company" about elephants in Burma (Myanmar) and how they live, and seem to understand as well as feel emotion. They were of enormous help in WWII in building bridges, aiding soldiers and civilians. They demonstrate compassion and concern for one another that is quite remarkable.

Elephants are extremely intelligent animals, they mourn their dead and, if I remember correctly, they hold funerals for their dead.

The sections about orcas and wolves are excellent too.

Poaching should be eliminated by any means possible.

Elephants as sentient beings, hunted for profit.

Oh well. Humans are allowed to drown in the rush to escape war.

Meanwhile, drones fly overhead to terrorize fiend, friend and foe alike.

No one seems to care about that sort of thing, though.

Maybe someone should name all the animals at the factory farms.
