Here are 5 bombshell revelations that show Trump’s campaign is a massive con job

1.) Trump only has $1.3 million in cash on hand.

This is an unprecedentedly low amount of cash to have on hand for a national presidential campaign.

2.) Trump’s campaign raised only $3.1 million in May.

Again, this is a stunningly low monthly fundraising number for a national presidential candidate.

3.) Trump’s campaign paid Trump’s own companies more than $1 million in May alone.

Yes, despite being cash poor, Trump’s campaign still found ways to spend money on businesses that were owned by Trump himself.

4.) Trump’s campaign spent more money on ‘Make America Great Again’ hats made by his own company than on web advertising.

Yes, seriously: Trump’s campaign bought up $208,000 worth of hats in May, while spending just $48,000 on data management and $115,000 on online advertising.

5.) Trump’s campaign paid an advertising firm named Draper Sterling $35,000.

Sure, Draper Sterling could be a legitimate advertising business, but it sounds an awful lot like a scam since it’s also a clear reference to the ad agency in Mad Men. Think Progress’s Judd Legum looked up the listed address for Draper Sterling and found what looks like a residential house:

a campaign for president.

What matters right now, of course, is that his campaign is effectively broke. I've read that some among the super-rich are considering funding his campaign, and I'm seriously wondering if they are insisting he get his campaign on a better footing before investing. This could be the main reason he fired the top guy who's been encouraging him to kick himself in the teeth.

Timing: Campaign reduced to running on fumes, fired campaign manager.

Donald Trump talked politics with Bill Clinton weeks before launching 2016 bid

Former president Bill Clinton had a private telephone conversation in late spring with Donald Trump at the same time that the billionaire investor and reality-television star was nearing a decision to run for the White House, according to associates of both men.

Four Trump allies and one Clinton associate familiar with the exchange said that Clinton encouraged Trump’s efforts to play a larger role in the Republican Party and offered his own views of the political landscape.

The next question is why...

I think the actions in this forum during the primary more than answer that. To make what many people saw as a bad candidate more palatable when you looked at the alternative. The sad thing is way way way too many people ate it up hook, line, and sinker.
