http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1014&pid=1495861Not only is he running 20% + of his campaign's expenses back into his and his family member's
businesses but he is paying himself a salary too. Trump says he is worth $8 billion and if he just
had 1/4 of a billion $s of his money invested into a very safe portfolio that made 2.5% return
in a year then that should be:
250,000,000 x .025 = 6,250,000
That is over $6 million a year in interest alone not counting all of his other business income
and yet he is paying himself $15,000 a month?

(11,076 posts)In my experience the wealthy want a discount or to drag out paying the bill. Their time is always more valuable than others. If the law says he can pay himself, you can bet he will. If it skirts the law slightly, he will still do it.

(2,900 posts)That's the first sign of modesty we have ever seen from him. He's drawing a salary because he thinks he can. When I ran for office, it never occurred to me that this was possible until the finance class we had said it was illegal. I suspect he is going to get in some kind of trouble for this. I can't imagine that this is legal.

(3,581 posts)As Mark Cuban said, Trump likely has relatively few liquid assets. Putting his name on everything under the sun--in deals that aren't going to make him millions--is a sign of desperation. I suspect the same thing is going on here with the salary and funneling money back to his own businesses.
