Kansas goes around the bend - Impeach those judges

"Senate Bill 439 is currently set for debate before the state’s GOP-stacked Judiciary Committee. If it is approved and signed by Governor Brownback, it will permit impeachment of any Judge who acts contrary to the wishes of the legislature. In other words, any Judge who strikes down or modifies any law the legislature passes, for any reason-- whether the law is blatantly Unconstitutional, violative of existing laws, or otherwise, is thereby subject to impeachment proceedings by the state Legislature. A previous law threatening to cut off all Judicial funding was declared unconstitutional by the state’s High Court."

Little gods strutting their stuff - The hell with the judicial branch.

... which will then place the justices in violation of the law. Which would precipitate a fun constitutional crisis.

While I can't reasonably put anything past idiot GOP legislators in general, nor those in Kansas in particular, I'd estimate this piece of political grandstanding as something intended to fail, but to which the legislators will like to point to show how tough they are.

I hear their next bill will be to make Pi equal to three.

Rejecting a fundamental ideal/process of the US govt at the state level = Stop Claiming Patriotism (Kansans) who support this = party over country/over state.

especially to Denver. It will be hard to do anything. Johnson County folks can easily move across the state line, too.
