Now go register to vote!

My cousin Tom was born on the 4th of July also, Happy Birthday to him! And my mom's due date for me was July 4, but there was a major thunderstorm on my birthday (June 29) and the family joke is that I thought it was fireworks and so arrived early.

Wow. She was only ten years old when she moved into the WH, almost half her life was spent there.

The daughter of the nation's first black president will vote for the nation's first woman president. Imagine that!

. . .the oldest daughter of our first African-American POTUS is now old enough to vote, and will probably cast her first vote ever for our soon-to-be first female POTUS.

Her parents have so many reasons to be proud.

And fond memories of my born-on-the-4th maternal grandmother - 1899. She ran away from home at age 15 to attend nursing school. Her eldest daughter, my now 94 yr old mom also became a nurse, as did I.

Malia has been under a national public/media microscope for the past eight years. And the secret service hasn't given her an instant of privacy in those eight years. My guess is that, given a choice, no teenager would want to live with these pressures.

Malia, you've lived the past eight years with style and grace. Have a very happy birthday and an outstanding life.

Those long slender legs. Reminds me of my best friend who had those long slender legs at that age. I was BEYOND jealous.
