Google says that it takes 30-50 minutes for a radio signal from Jupiter to reach Earth

It got within 2800 miles. The bad news is that the science instruments are turned off. They will be turned on for the second pass in 53 days.

They wanted to have the spacecraft slow so as to get it set into a 53-day orbit of Jupiter.
