Pride Toronto is backing away from the promises made to Black Lives Matter Toronto during a protest that temporarily shut down the Pride Parade.
My priority yesterday was to make the parade move, Mathieu Chantelois, the executive director of Pride Toronto, told CP24 the following day on July 4, 2016. Frankly, Black Lives Matter is not going to tell us that there are no more floats anymore in the parade.
Instead, Chantelois said it is up to the community and the membership of Pride Toronto to determine whether or not the police should march in Pride.

(18,585 posts)Chantelois said that he was personally comfortable with an organized police presence, but understands why some community members wouldnt be.
So I think as a community, we have to come together and make some important decisions together, he said.

Perhaps some white LGBT people are not comfortable.
But no progress will be made if we continue to placate the bigots.
The original civil rights movement faced a helluva lot more than this.
Buck up, doing what is right is always harder than doing wrong.
Straight, white people do not read the Gay newspapers and nor do they participate in Gay forums and nor are they regular members there.
Where are you getting your info from?
In community policing in Toronto , it is essential to have police represent all the communities ( the chief is black) and the only way the LGBTQ community knows that Gays are represented in the force is the parade.
This will not change ,and pride Toronto just confirmed it , and I bet the LGBTQ community is 100% behind it.
