Jim Bob Duggar: Molestation Is Common In Christian Families

http://reverbpress.com/news/jim-bob-duggar-molestation-common-christian-families-video/

Jim Bob Duggar dropped a bomb about Christian families like his own that everyone missed during the disastrous Fox News interview last June.

Perhaps it was just another way to excuse his son Josh’s pedophilia, or perhaps he was throwing other crazy conservative “Christian” families under a speeding bus, but either way, Jim Bob Duggar made a statement to Fox News that seems to prove just how dangerous sexually repressive Christian doctrine is to children and teens.

As Jim Bob Duggar spoke while his subservient wife stayed quiet, he claimed that child molestation is common in Christian families, especially the families he sought advice from in the wake of learning that Josh molested four of his own sisters while they slept.

“It was a very difficult situation. But as we talked to other parents and different ones since then, a lot of families have said that they have had similar things that happened in their families.”

I can think of at least five African American women within my circle of friends who were victims of child sexual abuse, all but one of whom were abused or raped by family members. Child abuse cuts across all demographic groups. There is no magic protecting any race or culture or religion or any other population group from this kind of horror.

some times though I find it odd for a Christian to comment this is common everyday experience in a Christian home, I hope not, but with the wife always pregnant and some many kids running around unsupervised, who knows - maybe he should have specified in his version of christianity.

I can't understand anyone watching that show, but I certainly have weird viewing habits that probably would fail someone's interest. And sadly I have fallen into a bad habit of reading a certain gossip column when they are doing reveals - it comes up when I google other things so I finally looked and now I look more than I should, but -- seems like one of their daughters left the family for a while and was having a normal life with a normal job, but her family got her back in the family with pressure.

There is a bad assumption that religion causes this. It's more a case where people use religion as a drape to justify their actions. More along the lines that Religion is the opiate of the people - a choice people make to justify living in a different reality.

Or more simply, I find it not surprising that f*cked up families cloak themselves in a very f*cked up version of religion. The person I know who was an atheist just chose a different reality that was equally as shallow.

Note for the record - I'm agnostic and view religion as nothing more than a man-made thing designed to influence other men.

Different "holy roller" families.

One was dragged off to church every wednesday night and sunday morning, but outside of that and away from his home/parents he was anything BUT religious. I frequently went home with him on fridays and spent the night. Mostly because it was amazingly easy to sneak out, after bedtime, and get up to all sorts of mischief. Much of the time, after dinner, we'd excuse ourselves to go to the park and shoot baskets. What we'd actually do was to sneak up into his attic, through the garage, remove the bathrooms exhaust fan, and watch each of his 4 sisters, in succession, take their baths. His idea, not mine. They weren't my sisters and I was 13 years old.

I wasn't all that friendly with the other guy, also from a holy roller family. Never visited each others homes. This guy, as an adult, was sent to prison twice for molesting his nieces. First one sisters daughters, then when released and staying with another sister, molested HER daughters.

Just my own personal experience with "christian" families.

Any 15 year old boy who sexually assaults a 5 year old girl is a sick fuck.

Jim Bob and his wife covered it up. No biggie. Besides they needed to protect the oldest son and the family name. Daughters don't rank with them.

Believe it or not, it was Oprah who alerted the authorities more than 3 years after the assaults. The family was scheduled to be on the show and she received a tip from a family friend who knew the story. She cancelled the appearance and her people contacted the local police.

Wed Jul 6, 2016, 10:24 AM

Sin and then sin some more, BUT if you ask God for forgiveness - then all those sins are wiped away.

My wife tells the story of her co-worker who bought high-end shoes and clothing, wore them once then returned them. The co-worker was a religious wackadoodle and said as long as she asked the Lord for forgiveness, she was doing no wrong. Wife tried to point out that the whole idea behind that was that one would NOT CONTINUE to error. Nope, the girl insisted, the Lord is all forgiving and all loving so no matter what sins, what harm she did, the Lord was there to give her a pass.

This was the same girl that said when she got to heaven the Lord would allow all the saved to visit hell to see the suffering of the damned. When asked how she could, even in her heavenly state survive the fires of hell, said that the angels of the Lord would be behind a fireproof glass on the air-conditioned side of hell.

There is no reason or sanity of those that pervert religion to suit their own morel shortcomings.

I know a homeschooling very over the top christian family, and they have weird views on sex, among other things. The head of the household told my husband that he wouldn't send his children to school because when he was a kid in grade school, in Canada, his parents heard that they were teaching 'how to have sex with animals' in the upper grades. He gave my husband details of it. He and the rest of his siblings were homeschooled after hearing that.

He was dead serious and really believes that perversion is taught in public schools. It makes me wonder about how twisted his mind is.

They don't seem to have a moral compass and have to rely on the bible to tell them right from wrong and they live in fear of going to hell. This same dude told my husband that without his religion he wouldn't be able to behave himself.

I have heard stories like the Duggar story from a number of people (mostly women) of a variety of backgrounds - generally women who grew up with slightly older brothers. It appears that baby sister was the first choice for playing Doctor, then the first choice for somewhat more thorough anatomical exploration, and, maybe, brother's practice for sexual conquests. It wasn't a matter of religion or irreligion, it was a matter of proximity and opportunity and temptation and urges ... and the general feeling that one doesn't make a complaint that could send a family member to jail. In some instances the parents may have been unaware, in some instances the parents may have had to make an effort to remain unaware - putting their foot down on molesting sister might have sent brother out to experiment with the neighbor's daughter, which would have gotten him no mercy at all.

Perhaps in the crazy Christian families. I grew up in a Christian family and was never molested as a child. He's trying to justify his own nutty family.

All of them! I don't care if that isn't PC. There is something seriously wrong with these people.

86. It is the result of the religious impulse to control people by controlling sex.

The fundie flavors of Christianity do it, with crap like Quiverfull, resulting in Michelle Duggar's clown-car vagina. And her son's adventures in child molestation.

You see the Catholic Church doing it, with the latest example being Philadelphia Archbishop Chaput saying that couples that were same-sex, or that were divorced and remarried, were not allowed to have sex.

And then you have Islam. Especially the fundie flavors like Wahhabi Islam, that have women dressed in sacks, seeing the world through a little slit, lest guys be tempted by a flash of salacious ankle. All of Saudi society is sex-segregated to a psychotic extreme. It is literally illegal for a woman to leave her house, just to go to the store to get a jug of milk, without male family escort. That is how sick and fucked up and twisted Islam is. You want to know why ISIS is as fucked up as they are? In a nutshell you have a bunch of violent psychopaths who have their sex lives controlled for them by assholes in funny hats. And that drives them to whole new levels of depravity.

The commonality here is the use of control of sex to control people. Tell a bunch of shaved apes that they're not allowed to perform a basic bodily function with themselves or each other, or the Fairy Godfather will get mad and throw you in the Eternal Torture Dungeon after you die, and watch how people behave. The more you can control sex, the more you can control people (and by extension, keep those tithes flowing into those collection plates). And the more fucked up and twisted and depraved people get as their psychologies get warped by sex deprivation.

You're no better than he is. There are no valid statistics posted, only hateful opinions against someone else's religious preferences.

I swear, DUers are getting to be as ugly as Trump's tea bags.
