4. Well to be fair...

A poll a few years ago showed 80% of Americans say they are NOT a feminist. However, the vast majority say they support equal rights between the genders.

So maybe a lot of people do in fact know exactly what "feminism" means. It's just for most people, they don't view it as meaning equality.
