Confederate flags in parade anger community (RI)

... Several .. who attended the annual Ancients and Horribles parade in Glocester on Monday said they were upset to see the Confederate flag being flown from a set of floats ...

"I found that to be pretty disgusting," a woman told NBC 10 ...

"I would never go to that business," the man said. "Why would I feel welcome if that's the message you're putting out there?" ...

1. If people ignore stupid symbols they'll go away faster.

Giving it attention only encourages miscreant behavior.

2. Wrong. They should be confronted and shamed.

3. Sounds so Puritan in nature.

Past a point confrontation can also become bullying. I've never seen a child's behavior corrected using that method.

5. So if your child develops an irrational hatred for a group people you should ignore it.

And the targets of that hatred should just blow it off? And if they push back, they're bullies?
