I abhor violence by police and the disproportionate violence by police against black people.
I abhor the shootings of Dallas police.

These statements are not mutually exclusive. In fact I believe them to be consistent. I find no more justification for tonight's murders of police than I find justification for the murders of the last two nights by police. The murders of Alton Sterling and Philandro Castile publicized a terrible problem that our country has. Tonight's murders can only make that problem worse as police will be understandably more likely to believe themselves a constant target and will inevitably have more of a hair trigger.
