That's a technical distinction that, only in our fucked up society, matters in the debates about how we go about achieving reasonable gun control laws. I didn't want to learn this. I don't care, or rather I don't want to care about those differences. I've never shot any gun other than target practice and Keystone Cop like misadventure trying to hunt with a friend once. But because this entirely optional problem has become so prevalent and so persistent--thanks to the NRA and their paranoid drivel about "2nd Amendment remedies"--I've come to learn this trivial nonsense is kind of important.

that will pass constitutional muster. The 1994 AWB shows what happens when you legislate from a position of perceived moral authority and technical ignorance.
