(23,761 posts)that the Pres and VP can't reside from the same state...also don't you have to be 35 on inauguration day in order to be pres or vp?

(9,114 posts)found that Cheney lived in Wyoming, because Cheney said he did. Sid was a Dallas lawyer and North TX judge. Another right winger from Dallas, like bush and Cheney.
Cheney ran up to WY less than 3 1/2 months before the election to register to vote using a hunting cabin as a residence. Which means Cheney committed a felony fraud by getting a $347,000 residential tax exemption on his $1.6 million dollar Highland Park, TX, mansion. Either he violated the 12th Amendment and was legally eligible to keep the $300+k, or he should have been forced to give the money back, since he was 'from WY', and his worth is at least $90 million dollars. Or he should have been charged with felony fraud.
He lived in Dallas county for 8 years, voted there, his driver's license was from there, his cars were registered there, he 'paid his taxes' there. But he got to say he was from WY, and keep the TX residential exemption money, and never faced any charges.

(748 posts)Per Amendment XII, an Elector in a given state cannot cast his or her vote for President and his or her vote for Vice President in the situation where both the Presidential candidate and the Vice Presidential candidate are both from the same state as the Elector.
To put it in concrete terms, if the ticket were indeed Trump-Trump (and, at the time the Electoral votes were cast, both Trumps were "inhabitants" -- that's the term used in Amendment XII -- of the State of New York), then the Electors from New York could not cast their votes for both Donald Trump for President and Ivanka Trump for Vice President. Each New York Elector could cast his or her votes for Donald and someone else (that "someone else" not being from New York) or for Ivanka and someone else, but not for both.
In this scenario, of course, if Trump-Trump had not carried the State of New York in the November election, then, as a practical matter, the provisions of Amendment XII wouldn't be at issue at all.

(16,846 posts)that Trump would pick one of his kids. For one thing, no one else seems to want to be on a ticket with him. For another, men like Trump tend to be paranoid, and he wouldn't want to be looking over his shoulder all the time in fear of what his VP might do to get him out of the way. Someone like Cruz, for instance, would stop at nothing to be President.

(46,119 posts)If Ivanka were VP, she wouldn't be running the Trump Empire with her brothers, who may want her out of the management.
So you get Eric, younger brother, to praise the idea of his beautiful and smart sister as Vice President of the United States instead of Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization.

(4,858 posts)...there'd be talk of JFK appointing Bobby Attorney general, and our long history of political dynasties. Our "media" would swallow it whole, if you'll excuse the expression. How long would it be before anyone who questions it would be accused of being part of the "liberal media"? Having said this, I must admit, I think this would be too much, even for Trump, even for the GOP.
