While DPD has serious problems, it is not like a lot of police forces that end up on the news
It is a relatively diverse department, ethnically, culturally and politically, led by a Black chief.
Years ago there was a major framing scandal that changed the political landscape in Dallas. Since then there has been a lot more citizen involvement in government here.
There have been recent shootings that rightfully deserve scrutiny, and there needs to be more citizen control in place, but it is well ahead of some of the agencies that we hear about in these nationally publicized cases.
