If he was white we'd be flooded with stories of the struggles of vets with PTSD.

In this case, I doubt it will be highlighted.

I expect it will barely get a mention

Just the truth.
Indeed to be trying to link him with Black Lives Matter and not with Vets suffering from a variety of problems speaks volumes about institutional racism.

What has to be addressed is how you train young men and women to slaughter others on behalf of the interests of the 1% and don't factor in that a few may well use that training for their own interests.

Sadly the real problem here remains access to weapons similar to those on the battle fields.
It's fucking nonsense.

On the other hand, PTSD is a serious issue - I have a nephew who is a completely different person since his deployment to Iraq and he only had one trip to hell.

Engineer battalion, IIRC what they said.

Still could have been traumatic.

Would like to hear where and when and how he got radicalized. As you gus were saying, we may not hear much in this case.

Spreading the Mil service/PTSD relates to violence meme is hurtful bullshit that demonstrates profound ignorance of PTSD and disparages veterans.

Led you to believe that I was blaming his actions on PTSD, then I did a piss poor job of making my point.

If he was white we'd be flooded with stories of the struggles of vets with PTSD.
In this case, I doubt it will be highlighted.

My point is that white mass murderers get a few gallons of ink wasted in articles trying to "understand the motivation" of the shooter or to get a "snap shot of the gunman's mind" - Or any other lame ass bullshit they can publish to minimize the responsibility of the shooter.

But nothing I recall seeking to minimize his responsibility.

Also, our speculating and arguing on a liberal website aren't affecting the national discussion - That's CNN FOX Newsweek Time etc. etc.

It's the tone and tenor of the speculation that varies depending on race and religion.

The focus of coverage is different- A white shooter will be written about in a way that shields other white people from being implicated. Almost as if the gunman sprang fully formed from the void

Stories about Muslim or minority shooters look for ways to paint the community in question as somehow complicit in the violence.

If you can't see that, I don't know what to tell you.

Peace
