City Seeks Public Input On Confederate Monument Relocation (KY)

The Louisville Metro Commission on Public Art is asking residents to propose potential relocation sites for the 70-foot tall confederate monument that currently sits near the University of Louisville campus.

Mayor Greg Fischer and U of L President James Ramsey announced earlier this year the 121-year old monument would be removed. The statue was built with funds raised by the Kentucky Women’s Confederate Monument Association in 1895. The obelisk is nearly 70 feet tall, and its foundation sinks about 5 feet into the ground at its base.

Probably have to file some kind of environmental impact statement, though. How about just giving it back to the Kentucky Women's Confederate Monument Association or its successor? Put a little sticky note on it that says, "No thanks," and be done with it.

Present this as a voter initiative and see how many people are willing to chip in 1/2 cent for the next 10 years to move and maintain it.

Include in the initiative that it is an increase of the sales tax/real estate/documentary stamp tax and will cost the fair citizens of KY.

fuck, you know it would fail and become a pile of rubble. Whoa, new thought. Combine it with the Jesus museum, let the rubes have at it.
