Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIt's an official I REALLY, REALLY DISLIKE DONALD TRUMP thread.
I was gonna say hate but thought that it might be over the top.
The last pol to run for this office that was so divisive was George Wallace. I'll say no more.

(15,223 posts)I feel like I'm in a reality tv show, and I HATE reality tv.
His campaign, his success, the fact that anyone is even taking him seriously is appalling and embarrassing to me as an American. Anyone who cannot see past the bluster is a stupid fool with no capability for understanding. He is appealing to the uneducated and ignorant in this country, and that appeal is being manipulated by the GOP powers that be.

(13,598 posts)I am far from certain that the Democrats will win the coming election, but I think it's the way to bet.
And I think Trump deserves more credit than anyone else for that.
dpatbrown
(368 posts)And if the Dems grab control of not only the Senate but the House, Trump will deserve the credit. But I disagree on one point, I am convinced that Trump goes down in defeat. The Dems could have never done it without Trump. Clinton, who I don't care for, is lucky that her opponent is so terrible, other wise she would probably be defeated.
For me I'm anxious to see what kind of country we are. When demonstrating in the 60's about the same shit, well it just doesn't say much for this country. A lot of negative forces. Too many.

(6,335 posts)I think Trump is kind of a thumb in the air opportunist. Not a hard core conservative Republican. He has been a Democratic supporter in the past and his stand on a lot of Republican issues is wishy washy.
Compared to Republicans like Rick Scott, McConnel, Cruz, most of the other 2016 candidates and Con women like Marsha Black and many other hard-cores I like Trump.
And best of all I like him for pissing most of them off and HOPEFULLY breaking up the GOP evil empire.

(22,898 posts)So what's to like?
As a conservative journalist wrote on American Thinker:
Donald Trump exemplifies every character trait that parents teach their children not to have. He is a braggart, bully, and liar; he is condescending, nasty, judgmental, mean-spirited, divisive, thoughtless, impulsive, selfish, hubristic, unprincipled, misogynistic, and simply put, a jackass. He lacks compassion, empathy, class, social graces, humility, and kindness.

"Every time Trump opens his mouth, I cringe."
Also from the American Thinker article, Jason Riley said:
"You want to take a shower after he's done speaking."

(10,857 posts)I do dislike him intensely, but even more I am saddened that this poltroon can come along in the wake of a President as amazingly competent as Barack Obama, who has permanently raised the bar for modern American Presidents.
At the exact same time, Donald Trump is the voice of everything stupid, ignorant, and hateful in America, and an astonishing number of people seem to be perfectly okay with that.

(30,755 posts)He could easily show up as one of Batman's adversaries in Gotham. It would take very little to give him the appropriate villain garb. The face and hair would require no change at all.

(5,902 posts)A polite gentleman (even those with skeletons in the closet, like Jeb and Narco Rubio) would have been that much harder to defeat.
Half of politics, as we all know, is perception. A rube like Trump is exactly what you want in an opponent when fighting a close election - especially when your own candidate is a real lady as ours is.

(22,976 posts)That word gets tossed about very casually these days, but as a student of world history, there can be no mistaking what Trump is pedaling: fascism. Every hallmark of the disease is present: Scapegoating, the gathering of "muscle" from the country's interior regions, the wall-building fiasco-in-waiting, threats based on religion/ethnicity, outright violence, etc. The very fact that this man is a major-party candidate for the highest office should set off flare after flare, but the media itself admits to enabling him for ratings.
If you're cursed with possessing plain, common sense, the whole Trump "show" is enough to sicken your very soul.
Martin Eden
(12,875 posts)I absolutely LOATHE Donald Trump and everything he stands for, but ultimately he is a symptom and not the disease.
The real evil at work here is the intentional dumbing down of the American people;
Misinformation through a steady stream of propaganda;
Manipulating people by playing on their fears and stoking their bigotry;
Wrapping all of this in the flag and the bible;
And driving a wedge between the American people.
A House divided against itself cannot stand, and a People divided against themselves are incapable of working together for their mutual benefit.
The true elites of wealth and power have done this intentionally to enrich themselves and exert control.
Donald Trump is merely a snake oil salesman taking advantage of a crowd of suckers.

(27,845 posts)but in the case of Donald J. Trump, it's the best word to describe my feelings.
How the hell can this stupid, racist, self-absorbed, hate-filled Hitler protégé be running neck and neck with Hillary Clinton?
What does that say about America?
Just thinking about the "possibility" of this cretin becoming POTUS is enough to make one nauseous.
(One thing that I found helpful was to channel my hatred of Trump into satire):

(21,177 posts)When I confronted them with the USA today article about Cheeto not paying his bills. And his multiple wives (when one said he was a good family man) and called then rubes for supporting them. They got insulted I called them rubes, not a word about the article. I smacked them back hard and it was so epic my friend ( who posted the original video about how awful the con man is) called me and was laughing so hard she had trouble catching her breath. She got another call from a friend who told them they loved my slap down.
There is so much stuff to go after him on that if they continue to support him they are idiots.
