they are at the booing and disrespect coming from the floor. It is embarrassing and every republican must be laughing and enjoying the show. I hope the boxers are being paid enough to act like fools.

(23,558 posts)I have known friends who I never knew to be political moved into action under the banner of Sanders campaign. Democratic politics don't need to be orderly, in my opinion.

(6,716 posts)the convention, the speakers, even the opening prayer? You're proud of this?

(23,558 posts)I know that she's a Sanders delegate from the SF Bay Area. I know that years ago I never knew her to be politically-oriented. I know that now she appears to me to passionately care for social justice, and that I'm proud of her.

This is really pretty common, especially when the energy is still high.
They'll get tired. They'll get bored. That's also pretty common convention behavior

(34,139 posts)This part doesn't bother me, but booing and chanting with Bernie's during the prayer pissed me off.
I thought Democrats believed in respect and tolerance - but then, a sizeable number of so-called Bernie supporters were never Democrats, were they?
And how about booing their own candidate when he asks them to support the winning nominee? They are not listening to their own guy. Bernie Sanders does not want this - he wants a movement that will last and attract more people. This behavior is just pissing people off.

(34,139 posts)I do not believe in a religion but I do believe in respect and tolerance.
I was unhappy that they started with "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" sung by a choir (I missed who they were) but then I thought of all the people who would be reminded of George W. Bush's inappropriate behavior to that song in Dallas.
Then they came on with the opening prayer which was a call for unity. I can support unity and it was not an overly religious theme to the prayer so I was OK with it. Then the Bernie disruptors started booing when the woman giving the prayer called for uniting to elect our candidates. That was irritating but the chanting of "Bernie" pissed me off. That made it over the top as far as I am concerned. Respect the prayers of others and tolerate their beliefs (as long as they are tolerant of others).
Sen. Sanders has called for his supporters to help get Clinton and Kaine elected - but some of his people booed HIM when he made that call this afternoon. I suspect that tiny percentage of Sanders supporters are more interested in disruption than they are in getting anything done. In other words, I suspect those few are more interested in hating Hillary Clinton than they are in making our country a better place.
