This started out as a pretty routine trip for the Uber driver, picking up a passenger from Old Town Scottsdale right after closing time early Sunday morning. She quickly realized that the woman who got in the backseat was not only very drunk, but also put the driver in danger.

Girard's cell phone video shows the obviously intoxicated and agitated woman trying to climb up over the console to the front of the mini van while she was driving 65 miles per hour on the Loop 101 freeway.
"My biggest concern was that she was either going to come up in the front and fall on me in such a way that it blocked my ability to drive safely," said Girard.

The passenger left before police arrived at the scene and Girard has no plans to file charges. Releasing the video could get her suspended from Uber, but Girard says she wanted to show people the dangerous situations drivers can face.

(5,169 posts)Uber is constantly looking for new drivers. There is a huge turnover, which, combined with growth and drivers they need to get rid of, requires a constant stream of new people.
Videos like this may get people to rethink their commitment to drive, as it does cast a light on the fact that you are frequently driving unpredictable intoxicated people. Fortunately, most passengers are either friendly and cooperative, or at least controllable. But if you drive for any length of time, you WILL have some dangerous people in your car.

(5,169 posts)In 3 years of cab driving, I really only had maybe 4 or 5 scary rides, 3 in-the-car pukers, and one guy s#!t himself in the backseat.

(5,169 posts)The guy was a DFI (drunken fucken idiot) from the start. Rude and belligerent, he wanted a ride back towards Mt Clemens. a LONG run.
I agreed, but I needed a deposit. He gave me a Benjamin. OK, I am still not thrilled, but let's go.
He refuses to believe we are going the right way. Within a couple miles, there were some deputies doing traffic control, I pulled off the road and asked them to remove him from the car. They assured him that we were going the right way. He promised to chill, and one of the deputies told me if I did not feel safe with him, I could let him out somewhere safe.
We leave, he is still being a DFI. We get to Utica, Lakeside Mall area. He needs to pee, I need to let him. I pulled into a Chili's, he jumps out behind the restaurant. I take a whiff, and see a brownish wet spot on the seat, and another on the back of his pants. I zipped out of there, pulled over, and called 911. I then left and took the car back to the garage.
The fare turned out to be $72 and the cleaning charge was $50. After paying my lease and cleaning fee, I made about $5.00 out of the hundy he prepaid and lost 6 hours of driving.
I hope the humiliation of the situation leads the man towards alcohol abuse treatment.

(8,924 posts)a buddy of mine was one, sharted in the restroom where I worked, made a huge mess, called me from the restroom to see if I had spare gym clothes and if he could borrow them, I did but didn't really want them back afterward
That was ten years ago, he avoids me because of the embarrassment, never told a soul in our circle of friends
