Bush decapitated in 'Game of Thrones' (with update)

Last edited Thu Jun 14, 2012, 12:42 PM - Edit history (1)

In the "Game of Thrones," you win or you die, and George W. Bush did the latter in the HBO series — by decapitation.

That is, a prop head of the former president appears in the TV show, according to series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss in the DVD commentary for season one, the website io9 reports. In a scene in the finale — where the character of Sansa Stark is forced to look at the severed head of her father, Ned Stark — Bush’s head is seen decorating a spike.

The creators insist “it's not a political statement.”

"The last head on the left is George Bush. George Bush's head appears in a couple of beheading scenes. It's not a choice, it's not a political statement, it’s just we had to use what heads we had around,” Benioff and Weiss say in the DVD commentary.

UPDATE:
‘Game of Thrones’ Apologizes
This is one way to get ratings. HBO and Game of Thrones apologized on Wednesday after the fantasy series featured former President George W. Bush’s head on stake. The head of the former president appeared for just a second in the fantasy series last year, and went unnoticed until a Reddit user flagged it. In the DVD commentary for the series’ first season, one of the writers admitted Bush’s head appears in some of the beheading scenes—but insisted there were no political motives.

more of a kinda generic western European male, no obvious identifying features. Anyway, he's in good company with Ned and the Septa.

(why did they have a Bush head lying around in the first place?)

Well, since you asked - and you're "just curious" - I'll tell you.

I'd wonder at the political bent of the person who chose an Obama head and would express regret that the books I enjoy are being tainted by a right-winger in the TV series.

But it's Shrub's head and I fucking hate Bush, so I'm still laughing about it. I'm happy as shit that someone thought to do that. Makes me feel good to know that someone else in the world knows Bush's true worth.

I absolutely don't care how Bush-bots feel about the head choice. Fuck'em.

I also enjoy 'grave dancing' when pieces of shit die. I'm not one of those who thinks death confers absolution or wipes the slate clean.

Satisfy your curiosity?

I'm not buying their explanation, but in times past, this would have likely, eventually, been his fate, anyway.

True history shows the outcome was rarely good for interlopers, and they, or some part of them, generally ended up on the end of something very pointy.

Why anyone would lower their vibrations to play this satanic "game" is beyond me. Makes me wonder about where people are at.

Violence is nothing to indulge in, even at a fantasy level. I believe that these "games" are being created to program people to commit acts of violence. Especially in the young and at-risk, I should add.

I respectfully request that you remove this thread immediately.

It would add a lovely touch to my home even the neighborhood children could enjoy. I've thought of putting Bush's head coming out of a toilet in the middle of my living room as a conversation starter for guests who come over but this is even better.
