His son, Donald Jr, said that the Trump Enterprises had a disproportionate amount of business dealings with Russia. Is there any wonder why Donald speaks so glowingly of Vladimir Putin?
He has no plans on showing his tax returns and we will never know what he is hiding? Republicans are asked to vote blindly for a friend of Vladimir Putin. They are asked to trust that all the dealings are above board. There is no threat to America's national security. Trust him. As the Donald would say, "Believe me". They should weigh their trust very carefully, in my opinion.
It is unbelievable that a candidate for the highest office in the land would refuse to show his tax returns and where he gained his wealth? Perhaps America should worry less about "Crooked Hillary" and look just a bit closer at "Crooked Donald"?

(8,377 posts)The tax returns won't directly show net worth, but you can infer a lot of it.
This guy is a fraud. He is not a billionaire. Whatever he has is a paper empire and it probably is net negative, with more bankruptcies to come. That is how these crooks play the game. They assemble piles of other peoples' money, organized into dozen or hundreds of corporations. When they get into trouble, they shift their losses to one of the corporations and then take that corporation through bankruptcy. That leaves them with whatever cash they were able to move into the corporations they don't take through bankruptcy. Trump has done this over and over.
Romney was the same way, although I think Romney probably was a lot smarter about it and clearly has a substantial net worth.

(8,965 posts)A house of cards that would debunk everything he has ever said about his net worth, relative success or failure of his business enterprises, business associations foreign and domestic, charitable contributions, write-offs, taxes paid out (or not paid), etc. In a nutshell, too much splainin' to do. So he takes a hit for not releasing them, but less of a hit than if he laid it out and proved to the world that he is every bit the phony that has been suspected all along.

I'm not sure I believe it, but if he doesn't release his tax returns, how do we really know?
