at the end of the race - idiots are everywhere.

That 400m still has me speechless. After I saw Usain in the heats I kind of knew he'd win and changed my prediction. Three straight 100ms in three Olympics - pretty awesome. Poor Gatlin - Usain is in his head.

Track and field is taught from youth, to rich and poor, and it is part of the culture.

I remember when this guy was the talk of the town, celebrated in song and if you were late for an appointment you were advised to "run like Quarrie." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Quarrie

Bolt deserves to win, because he has worked the hardest to develop his talent, and he is the swiftest. He came from nothing, from deep poverty--and now look at him! I don't begrudge him a thing, not even his pride at his accomplishments.

By the time the 2020 Olympics roll around, he'll be 33. Wonder if he'll be there in the 100m finals then too? I'm thinking he probably will, but may no longer be favored for gold.

Anyway, De Grasse nabbed the bronze for Canada so I'm happy tonight!

He's already hinting at retiring - we'll see.

Bolt touched De Grasse at the starting line - and gave him a hug during the celebrations.
That kid can run.

Plenty of future Olympic gold potential there, barring some sort of serious injury or a doping scandal (please no, never!!!! We already endured Ben Johnson).

He is the greatest sprinter of all time.

I was not a sprinter, in HS. I was a long jumper and a 440 yard guy, but i've been fascinated by world class track athletes for 40 years.

Bolt accelerates longer than everyone else. Most of these guys accelerate for 50 meters, sustain top speed for 20 more, and then try to lose as little speed as possible for the last 30.

He accelerates for 60 meters, holds that top speed for 25 or 30 more, and only is hanging on the last 10 meters or so. By the time he starts losing speed, his opponents have been losing speed for 20 yards already. And, his top speed is a pinch higher than their top gear. So, they have no chance in the last 30 meters.

Can you imagine if he had a world class start? Of course, at his height, that would be nearly impossible. If he could though, he'd be running 9.5.

Yeah, if he started a sprinter, he would have records that would never be broken.

as it stands now, his current record will stand a very long time.
