which got me to thinking about my high school and college experience of track meets. It is like nearly non-existent. When I was in h.s. track meets were held during school hours and the only spectators were couches and athletes who were between events. They were not promoted in any way. The chess club got more ink in the school paper than the sprinters, jumpers and hurlers.

So, my question, Is my experience the way it is or did your h.s. and college actually honor track and field athletes?

Edit; Did anyone attend meets besides couches and the athletes?

Track and soccer were very big at my high school. I was wondering why that was, when it hit me. We didn't have a football team.

PS. you either spelled couches right or coaches wrong.
