What are the major differences between right-wing media (FOX) and the corporate media (NBC) ?

This is a serious question.

Because, in my opinion, this is the elephant in the room. Until we can understand the role and the impact of both of these media types, we cannot move this country forward and we cannot survive as a democracy. A democracy requires a press that is willing to state the facts and the truth about politicians of all stripes. It has absolutely nothing to do with "fair and balanced". "Fair and balanced" is an enemy of a free press. The truth does not require balance or the need to be fair.

FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Bill O'Reilly and hundreds of right-wing radio hosts across this nation are not interested in reporting the news. They are interested in giving the "other side" to any political issues. They are there to oppose the "liberal media". They are primarily political in nature. They call it "fair and balanced". Another word for it is "propaganda".

They are both parts of the corporate media. They are both driven by ratings. But that is where the similarities stop.

In reality, most people get their information (news) from the television and radio media. The corporate media, most of television, is in the business for ratings, not informing the citizens.

There are now two separate entities of the corporate media. One was created to offer opposing political opinions to the mainstream media. That is why FOX was created. They had no reporters on the ground when they began their venture. They are not concerned with facts or the interests of the nation as a whole, but mostly, an opposing political viewpoint, i.e. FOX and right-wing talk radio. They represent about half of the total media.

The other half of the corporate media would include CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, and other cable outlets. Even if they attempt to inform the public, it is not possible for them to do so. For example, if they wanted to inform the public about violent threats by a candidate running for the Presidency, the political entity of the corporate media would create a story about emails or Benghazi or something else to dilute the story and to relegate it to nothing more than fair and balanced. The mainstream corporate media are frozen into ineptitude because of their failed attempts at objectivity. The right-wing media do not concern themselves with objectivity.

The citizens are left where they began. They are left confused and uninformed. They have no where to go except their political Party for guidance. That is why they support Donald Trump, no matter what he might say or do.

This is a dangerous game they play.

Broadcast news is One hour a day. No need to fill in 23 hours of opinion and lies.
What cable and broadcast news all have in common is how predictable and disappointing they are.

They are both conflict driven with a format of opposing views that get into verbal WWFs the public so loves. They serve to distract people by getting them to argue with each other. Be it reality TV or infortainment media, this dominant model of contentious programming is poisononous!

there's no excuse for not calling out these lying politicians when they try to throw out their fluffy bits of misleading disinformation. I'm sick and tired of so called news reporters simply acting as the non-critical, brain dead stenographers and videographers for every slick talking politician trying to bamboozle the public.

While still on payroll with the Trump campaign.

That's about the only difference I can think of?
