Headline hooey - Manafort mania
The New York Times broke the story about a secret ledger found in the wake of the Yanakovich corruption scandal in Ukraine. :

Daily Kos picked up the story and ran an article by Mark Sumner ,
Trump's campaign manager took $12.7M in secret payments from pro-Russian forces in Ukraine

Now, for the record, I think Donald Trump and anyone associated with his campaign are beneath contempt. My concern here is with the way headlines often skew, spin, or misrepresent the facts.
Words have definitions as well as connotations, and those things matter, dammit!
Talking about the specific Manafort entries in the secret ledger, the Times specifically says:
Anti-corruption officials there say the payments earmarked for Mr. Manafort, previously unreported, are a focus of their investigation, though they have yet to determine if he actually received the cash.
No evidence that he recieved, i.e., "took" the cash
