Everyone In Denny’s Freezes When Dick Van Dyke Starts Belting ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’

http://www.littlethings.com/dick-van-dyke-chitty-chitty-bang-bang

There are some faces in Hollywood that bring on such a sense of nostalgia that it almost feels like you’ve stepped into a time machine.

Whether you recognize this face from your favorite childhood movie, or they sing a song you’ve known all your life, there’s just something about them that you feel deep in your heart.

~ snip ~

Dick Van Dyke is undeniably one of these faces.

~ snip ~

So when Van Dyke sat down to breakfast at a Santa Monica, CA, Denny’s and treated everyone in the restaurant with an incredibly sweet version of this song, the crowd was understandably enthralled.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one of the earliest movies I remember seeing at a theater. Even though it scared me some then lol. It's always been a favorite and DvD is one of my favorite actors.

I would think that being stressed out by eating healthy, but unenjoyable food is a lot worse for people than eating an occasional Grand Slam.

But I've never been able to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in same way, since I read the review by fashion bloggers Tom and Lorenzo -- http://tomandlorenzo.com/2014/12/musical-monday-chitty-chitty-bang-bang/

Read it, and then read some of their other Musical Monday reviews. The gentlemen are gems!

But she already has seen it, and loves it.

I played some YouTube clips from Mary Poppins and the boys were mesmerized by them. So I bought the video and they love it, even parts that you'd think would be boring to a baby. I think Van Dyke's personality just captivates them, as well as Julie Andrews.

I loved The Parent Trap too. Didn't care for the remake though.

about Dick Van Dyke, very good-natured and down-to-earth. He said Mary Poppins was the one project he was most proud of, though he thought another actor (can't remember his name) would have been better in the role. Evidently humble as well.

There were people in that Denny's who paid $4.99 for their meal.

$4.99--are they out of their mind?

And the answer is: No. They are not out of their mind. They are brilliant and ought to be commended for their own value breakfast savvyness.

People were getting a pancake, eggs, bacon and toast at a low, low price. That should have been the highlight of their morning. Instead, that Dick Van Dyke had to waltz into the restaurant and start singing the songs from some movie that he played in, and we're all supposed to think it's charming and wonderful?

Way to piss on people's Grand Slams, Dick.

in my life, and Bert is my favorite character that he played.

I ran into him in public back in the 90s. We were walking towards each other on a boardwalk at a shore, and he saw my face light up when I recognized him. I stopped to let him by; it was narrow. He grinned and winked as he passed.

Or maybe he has a better residuals deal from C-C-B-B than Mary Poppins, so he is trying to popularize it?

In any case, I think DvD is one of the most awesome people on Earth.
