He said he has no plans of doing any type of "pivot"? So if he plans on continuing to be himself, why did he bring in a couple of new people for his campaign?
In my opinion, he wants to have a back-up staff, just in case Manafort has to suddenly resign? He could feel the heat from the stories about Ukraine and Russia and he knows it's going to get much worse. Manafort doesn't want to resign at this moment - it would make him look guilty as hell. But he will probably have another "client" in a few weeks?
But, one has to ask, how did Trump get to know Manafort in the first place? Did he know about his Ukraine connections? Did Manafort help Trump with his business dealings in Russia? Trump is loathe to speak ill of Putin, that is for sure. If Putin drops the hammer on Trump, we will know immediately. Trump will be on Twitter tearing him down as a pathetic dictator.
In my opinion, we are dealing with international criminals, folks.

(27,315 posts)After all, hiring Bannon is counterproductive both because Bannon is not the person who will help moderate the campaign and there is a serious conflict of interest with him now managing the campaign.
After all, Breitbart, like every extreme media, makes more money when their opposition is in the White House. Breitbart will earn more money/reader with Clinton in the White House. In addition, he is hardly somebody we can expect make a pivot, on the contrary. If you think the campaign was repugnant until now, it can only become worse and more unhinged from now on.
So, really, my guess is that they are there to prepare the launch of a ALT-RIGHT media empire.

(2,657 posts)" CNN) Donald Trump's campaign is undergoing a major staff shake-up with less than three months to Election Day, adding two officials to top posts overseeing his struggling campaign and signaling a shift toward campaigning as a scorched earth outsider in order to win.
Trump has named Steve Bannon, the executive chairman of Breitbart News and a former investment banker, to the post of chief executive and promoted Kellyanne Conway, a senior adviser and pollster to his campaign, to the position of campaign manager, Conway confirmed to CNN early Wednesday morning.
The addition of Bannon -- known for his brass-knuckled demeanor and his website's sharp tone -- came hours after reports surfaced that Roger Ailes, the recently ousted head of Fox News, will begin to advise Trump as he prepares for the presidential debates. The influence of both men lays the groundwork for unleashing Trump this fall from the more traditional presidential candidate framework, which Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort's leadership was brought on to create.

(10,030 posts)I have come to believe that Trump knows he can't win (and doesn't want to. See Michael Moore), so he's prepping for his post phony-candidacy life with his new sweeties Bannon and Ailes.
And yes, there appears to be international criminals involved with Trump, but I think that is a separate issue.

(4,533 posts)Last week I saw a Republican campaign guy turned tv pundit, forget which one, say that he did not think Manafort would ride the trump ship all the way down. I took that to mean he thought Manafort would quit. When your client fails to do what you advise, to his detriment, why stick around and get blamed for failing? Especially when you are working without pay as Manafort apparently was.

(111,110 posts)Who chose Manafort to head the Trump campaign? Donald Trump or the RNC or someone else? I think it is very naive to think Donald Trump was not connected to Paul Manafort before he was put in charge of the campaign.
