My (Asian) wife is something else. Her remark about romney.

She is, as mentioned, an immigrant from the Philippines and she is trying to become more Americanized in part by watching news every day. She doesn't like fox (yeah maybe a little help there), and she doesn't like romney. And I swear I didn't influence her decision on that matter.
Anyway, last month, she was hell bent on going to Iowa City to see President Obama so I went and got tix and we went to the event the next day. Romney is appearing here in Davenport on Monday and I asked her if she wanted to go. Her reply? "No. He's stupid and I don't like him." Her command of the language leaves a little to be desired, but she knows who is ok and who isn't. I'm proud of her.

it sounds to me like she speaks English just fine. Clearly she doesn't have a problem expressing how she feels.

I have Filipino relatives, my favorite garbled English is from a cousin's wife who tells their dog to "go bark the cats".

In general, I've been upset with the politics of the Philippines lately.

The older group in general have been more towards a Republican candidate than a Democratic one.
The Philippines is inherently a religious population, and it worries me about their position about birth control, even if it is just prophelactics. They are teetering in the edge of over-population to food supply. They are hoping that advances in agriculture will be able to keep pace with their exploding population.
They even threatened ex-communication on any politician that considers supporting birth control.

Stating that, I find that the more affluent and socio-economic conscious parts of the population tend to go Democratic.

So in general, I find that many of those under 40, from the Philippines that I have met tend to trend Democratic as well.

Thankfully, I feel the same way as her in regards to Romney. That guy scares the hell out of me in public office.
He is a one term governor, there must be a reason for that.

She lived in Hong Kong for many years and doesn't care much for Philippine politics and rightfully so. They are about as corrupt as any government around. Plus, a friend of hers was "disappeared" many years ago.
