Unprecedented Flooding in Louisiana and Texas indicates a worse problem:

Climate Change will destroy humanity and most life on Earth, faster than anyone realizes it will. Diverse species are intricately intertwined with each other and the environment.

Think It’s Hot Now? Just Wait

By HEIDI CULLEN AUG. 20, 2016

July wasn’t just hot — it was the hottest month ever recorded, according to NASA. And this year is likely to be the hottest year on record.

Fourteen of the 15 hottest years have occurred since 2000, as heat waves have become more frequent, more intense and longer lasting. A study in the journal Nature Climate Change last year found that three of every four daily heat extremes can be tied to global warming.

This map provides a glimpse of our future if nothing is done to slow climate change. By the end of the century, the number of 100-degree days will skyrocket, making working or playing outdoors unbearable, and sometimes deadly. The effects on our health, air quality, food and water supplies will get only worse if we don’t drastically cut greenhouse gas emissions right away.

It's comments that propel readership at Democratic Underground, though. Paid trolls, who work online for large oil companies, can criticize the scientific findings to earn money and friends! Maybe we can get an Exxon advertisement to appear on the Opening Post! I bashed both Exxon and British Petroleum, at Democratic Underground, after catastrophic oil spills. At least the US Federal government -powered by citizen complaints - forced the companies to clean up their messes, to some degree.

Pollution in Beijing has made one of the worlds most ancient and beautiful cities in the world, almost uninhabitable:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/china-is-tackling-its-pollution-crisis-by-changing-the-level-of-what-it-says-is-unsafe-a6890786.html

Even The City of Light has sunk into the darkness of pollution. As large forest fires continue to destroy ancient trees, on an international basis, deforestation, smoke and poisonous emissions, continue to drastically alter rainfall and oxygen levels, on a worldwide basis.

Air quality in the EU: Environment MEPs call for tougher new national caps on pollutants

As air pollution is responsible for around 400,000 premature deaths in the EU yearly, Environment MEPs on Wednesday tightened up Commission plans and called for more ambitious national caps on emissions of six main pollutants, such as sulphur dioxide, particulate matter and nitrogen oxides in order to cut emissions by 70% across the EU and save €40bn in air pollution costs by 2030. MEPs also want to include emissions reduction ceilings on mercury, and a midpoint target for most caps of 2025. http://eeas.europa.eu/delegations/new_zealand/press_corner/focus/focus_items/air_quality_eu_content_en.htm

What Brazil’s New President Means For Its Environmental Laws

As it is now customary in multiple countries, Brazil requires environmental assessments prior to construction projects. But the Senate is now considering a bill that would give fast-track status to projects like roads, dams or ports deemed in the national interest by the president. That would allow developers to move forward simply by saying an environmental impact study is in the works, but bar agencies from halting the project once construction begins. Moreover, there is a proposed constitutional amendment to eliminate environmental licensing altogether...

For environmentalists, these proposals are ludicrous, as Brazil is still grappling with the aftermath of the collapse of an iron ore dam that caused the largest environmental disaster in Brazilian history. https://thinkprogress.org/what-brazils-new-president-means-for-its-environmental-laws-1e950f258269#.s30n8p27n

Local communities and environmentalists are begging the Ontario government here in Canada to stop Nestle from drawing millions upon millions of litres of water per day from Ontario aquifers during the drought we've been going through:

http://marketbusinessnews.com/refuse-nestle-water-taking-permit-ontarian-environmentalists-urge/142481

And they pay $3.71/million litres of water they pull.

Moyers: What happens to the idea of the dignity of the human species if population growth continues at its present rate?

Asimov: It will be completely destroyed. I will use what I call my bathroom metaphor. Two people live in an apartment and there are two bathrooms, then both have the freedom of the bathroom. You can go to the bathroom anytime you want, and stay as long as you want, for whatever you need. Everyone believes in the freedom of the bathroom. It should be right there in the Constitution. But if you have 20 people in the apartment and two bathrooms, no matter how much every person believes in the freedom of the bathroom, there is no such thing. You have to set up times for each person, you have to bang at the door, "Aren't you through yet?" and so on.

The same way democracy cannot survive overpopulation. Human dignity cannot survive it. Convenience and decency cannot survive it. As you put more and more people into the world, the value of life not only declines, it disappears. It doesn't matter if someone dies. The more people there are the less one individual matters.

Issac Asimov, quoted in A World of Ideas by Bill Moyers (May 26, 1989), p. 276

The Trump Final Solution: Race Wars

Other US citizens will be forced to buy weapons - or flowers - to protect themselves from right-wing militias, who are willing to occupy property illegally, kill people and loot, when necessary.

For now, the Trump family only brags about endangered species they slaughter, not accidentally dead business rivals, at construction projects. Most workers and many subcontractors at large construction project are minorities. Trump tends to keep subcontractors in court litigation, instead of paying them. Eventually, many of his rivals lay-off all their workers and go bankrupt, without the protection Trump legal teams construct to prevent loss of his expensive personal property.

Soylent Green is a 1973 American science fiction thriller film directed by Richard Fleischer and starring Charlton Heston, Leigh Taylor-Young, and, in his final film, Edward G. Robinson. The film combines the police procedural and science fiction genres, depicting the investigation into the murder of a wealthy businessman in a dystopian future suffering from pollution, overpopulation, depleted resources, poverty, dying oceans, and year-round humidity due to the greenhouse effect. Much of the population survives on processed food rations, including "soylent green".

The problem is that no one is willing to take major steps to reduce a worldwide extinction event that is associated with Climate Change. Currently, species are vanishing faster than they did during the period before and after the Chicxulub Event. The meteor simply finished off numerous species of dinosaurs, which were already in rapid decline.

Trump is a sociopath, who only cares about himself. If he becomes president, his supporters will become his victims. The trust his supporters have for Trump will make them the easiest targets for his scams. While the term "Global Warming" seems accurate, some scientist suspect certain areas might not continue to grow hotter.

As jungles, which surround the Earth's largest river vanish, an area some scientists refer to a the Lungs of the World, becomes an arid zone that lacks potential to support indigenous life-forms. In Brazil, species are vanishing before scientist are able to name them. Tropical rain forest are a driving factor in balancing weather systems, rainfall and even oxygen production.

Climate disruptions, on a planetary scale, as Earth is currently experiencing, creates a butterfly effect, where seemingly minor events trigger increasingly dramatic consequences. Critical results of an initial incident become progressively less predictable, as unrelated factors continue to modify the cause and effect scenario.
