SANDESTIN — A year-old controversy over a Confederate flag flying in DeFuniak Springs came home to roost last week at Walton County’s most famous resort.

Tallahassee’s chamber of commerce made good on its decision not to hold an annual four-day conference based on the Walton County’s Commission to continue to fly a Confederate-era flag at its county courthouse ...

Dan and Michelle Uhlfelder requested .. that the Stars and Bars flag flying over a Confederate monument at the Walton County Courthouse be removed, which angered many in the community.

After much debate the Walton County Commission voted to remove the always controversial Stars and Bars and replace it with the first flag flown by the Confederate States of America ...
